Why Choose St. Thomas?

The college you choose will profoundly shape your future. The ability to think critically and creatively, to communicate effectively, and adapt to a changing world are not automatic byproducts of a college degree. These abilities develop as a result of the quality of education you receive.

Simply put, the better your education, the better your opportunities.

As Minnesota's largest independent college or university, St. Thomas offers students a wide range of majors, degrees and opportunities.

Within one year of their graduation, 93% of all Tommie grads are either employed or in graduate schools.

The University of St. Thomas is a Catholic, comprehensive institution that fosters a tradition of service to the public and an energetic, thoughtful approach to the challenges of contemporary life. Located in Minnesota's vibrant Twin Cities, St. Thomas connects its students to employment opportunities, cultural events and volunteer activities. Serving 6,000 undergraduate students, St. Thomas is a thriving academic community for the active mind... like yours.

Why Choose St. Thomas Athletics?

Varsity sports at St. Thomas offer a winning combination -- conference, regional, and national athletic excellence, and outstanding academics.

New in 2021 is our move to Division I competition. Tommie teams will compete in the Summit League in most sports but also compete in the Pioneer Football League, the WCHA Women's Hockey League, and the Central Collegiate Hockey Association for men. St. Thomas will have more than 500 student-athletes competing in 10 men's and 10 women's varsity sports.

St. Thomas was a consistent top-10 or top-15 finisher (out of 440 institutions) each year of the NCAA Division III Directors Cup all-sport standings. The immediate goal for Division I is to start to build the foundation to be competitive in our conferences and in Division I and continue to grow as we move through the 2020s decade.

St. Thomas has won 15 NCAA team championships in eight different sports -- a feat that only a select number of institutions nationally have achieved. Our student-athletes have won 65 NCAA individual and relay championships and received nearly 110 CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.

Top-flight coaching and leadership is also at the heart of St. Thomas athletics. St. Thomas received Division III National Coach of the Year honors 14 times in the last 20 years alone, and the department is building out it administrative and coaching staffs with even more high-caliber, experienced individuals.
