Track and Field teams start outdoor season in Texas

Men's coach Pete Wareham and women's coach Ashley Lucas will enter a few athletes at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, on Thursday and Friday March 30-31. Others will travel south and compete in a meet hosted by Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, Thursday through Saturday April 1. Others will compete at Saturday's Hamline Invite in St. Paul.
Both teams are pointing their training and competitions to peak at the May 11-13 Summit League Outdoor Championships set for Fargo, N.D.
Last month, the Tommie men placed fourth out of eight teams in the 2023 Summit League Indoor Championships, while the women placed seventh out of nine teams.
Did You Know?
- St. Thomas Women's Track and Field freshmen and sophomore-eligible athletes contributed virtually all 18 points scored in the conference indoor meet, including six of the seven relay runners. One upperclass athlete to be part of team points was junior Amaya Lyrek in the distance medley relay.
- St. Thomas Men's Track and Field freshmen and sophomore-eligible athletes contributed 42 of the 50 individual points scored in the conference indoor meet.
