Sophomore duo leads Women's CC at Gopher race

Falcon Heights, Minn. - Tommie sophomores Molly Desotell, Ava Pankratz and Lauren Ellefson and junior Christina Bolcer all had top-25 finishes Friday in a field of 43 runners at the season-opening University of Minnesota Oz Memorial Race at the Bolstad Gold Course.
The race was held on a warm evening with temperatures in the mid-80s.
The host Gophers used a 1-2-3 individual finish en route to 19 points and the team win. Drake (51) edged St. Thomas (66) for second place.
Desotell clocked 19:43 for the 3.1-mile (5,000-meter) race. Pankratz took 19th in 20:28.
The next six finishers for the Purple were Bolcer (22nd, 20:44), Ellefson (23rd, 20:49), junior Rhynn Paulsen (28th, 21:55), freshman Malayh Metcalf (29th, 21:39), senior Amaya Lyrek (30th, 21:49); and junior Morgan Ede (31st, 21:50).
St. Thomas will return to the Bolstad course Sept. 23 for the 6,000-meter Roy Griak Invite.
