Senior Olivia Moll and freshman Molly Desotell placed fifth and 11th in a field of 75 runners to lead St. Thomas Women's Cross Country to fourth place out of nine teams in the Summit League Championships Saturday in Tulsa, Okla.
The Tommies put five runners in the top 35 as they closed out the 2021 season with four solid team showings against Division I opponents.
Regionally-ranked South Dakota State edged North Dakota State by a single point, 55-56, for the team crown, with South Dakota just 12 back in third place at 67. The Purple topped North Dakota by a 96-98 margin for fourth place.
Moll's time was 21:41 and she was one of four seniors to finish in the top six. Desotell was the second freshman finisher in the race at 22:05 in 11th place.
Five other Toms had top-50 finishes -- senior Sara Miller (17th, 22:27), freshman Ava Pankratz (33rd, 23:12), sophomore Christina Bolcer (34th, 23:13), soph Morgan Ede (47th, 23:47) and senior Gabbie Bolcer (48th, 23:49).
Other Toms competing were junior Gwen Helgesen (54th, 24:16), senior Quinn O'Connor (56th, 24:32), and senior Caroline Johnson (61st, 25:10).
