Tommie sophomore distance runner Olivia Moll on Tuesday was selected Athlete of the Week in MIAC Women's Cross Country. It's the second such honor of her young career, as she received this honor in fall 2018.
Moll placed first out of 130 runners -- including athletes from six MIAC teams -- at last Friday's Bethel Twilight meet in Blaine. Her time of 17:58 for three miles let her take her first collegiate CC victory, and it was 15 seconds ahead of teammate Sara Ness, the runner-up.
The No. 19-ranked Tommies had seven of the first 11 finishers en route to winning the team crown.
A native of Hammond, Wis., Moll was one of only two conference freshmen women in 2018 cross country -- with St. Ben's Abby Goff -- to receive both All-MIAC and All-Region honors. She took 13th at the conference meet and 32nd at the regional meet.
St. Thomas will compete Sept. 14 at the Luther Invite.
