No. 12-ranked Tommie Volleyball hit a buzzsaw on Friday night's NCAA playoff match with UW-Stevens Point. The buzzsaw won.

The Pointers had it going on all fronts as they ran their win streak to six with a 3-0 road victory in Schoenecker Arena that ended St. Thomas' season. It was the Purple's first 3-0 home loss in the last four seasons.

One day after going to the wire in five to edge Augsburg, Stevens Point played downhill all night and won 25-21, 25-20, 25-16.

Point plays in Saturday's 7 p.m. region championship match against St. Benedict, which rallied to win in five over Northwestern.

It was the first home loss after 10 previous wins for Coach Thanh Pham's Tommies, which closed a fun and unexpected season at 30-5. Four-year players Ellie Meyer and Madie Kroehler as well as Hannah Braun and Lauren Jagerson comprise the graduating senior class, which helped build a 102-30 record over the last four seasons.

Pham will return a strong core led by sophomore setter Grace Anetipa; sophomore hitter Fran Egan; junior DS Meghan Mazzola; and freshmen hitters Selena Levendoski and Kate Achenbach.

Egan had 10 kills and hit .321 on Friday. Kroehler had 10 kills and 11 assists. Anetipa added 30 assists and 16 digs. Meyer had 19 digs.
