Top-seed Tommie Volleyball looked a bit sleepy midway through Thursday's first-round match with eight-seed at the NCAA regional tournament at Schoenecker Arena.

After winning the first set 25-13, the Tommies lost the second set 25-20. The Toms fell behind 17-11 and still trailed 21-18 in the third set, but found a jolt of energy and pulled out a 25-23 victory to regain momentum. Coach Thanh Pham's sqaud then closed out the match with a 25-13 decision in the fourth set.

Freshmen Selena Levendoski (18 kills, hit .447) and Kate Achenbach (16 kills, three blocks), and senior Hannah Braun (13 kills four blocks) did much of the damage up front. They helped the Toms hit .250 on the match. Sophomore Fran Egan added nine kills.

Grace Anetipa had 50 assists and 16 digs; Ellie Meyer had 28 digs; and Anna Scheffley added 18 digs.

St. Thomas (30-4) moved to 10-0 at home this season, reached 30 season victories, and made it 19 victories in its last 20 matches.

The regional tourney continues Friday at Schoenecker with two semifinal matches. Top-seed St. Thomas plays fourth-seed UW-Stevens Point at 7 p.m., following a 4:30 match between No. 3-seed St. Ben's and No. 7-seed Northwestern-St. Paul.
