The Tommie men and women opened their 2018 indoor track and field seasons Friday with a non-team scored meet in Anderson Fieldhouse.
Athletes from UST, the University of Minnesota, St. Olaf, Gustavus, Bethel, Hamline, St. Catherine, St. Scholastica, UW-Superior and UW-River Falls as well as some unattached and alumni individuals competed.
St. Thomas won five events and had six runner-up finishes on the women's side.
Katie Murray won the 200 dash; Kendall Novak won the pole vault; Grace Bordson won the high jump; Hannah Helstad won the 600 and anchored the winning 4x400 relay with Anna Smith, Keely Smith and Brielle Bierman.
St. Thomas won four events and had nine runner-up finishes on the men's side.
UST will have a smaller home meet next Friday Jan. 19 in Anderson Fieldhouse.
