St. Thomas Softball's Kierstin Anderson-Glass, Elise Barnes and John Tschida received major conference honors on the 2019 All-MIAC teams announced Monday.

Anderson-Glass received the Pitcher of the Year award, her second in her two seasons. Barnes was voted Player of the Year, while Tschida was voted Coach of the Year.

Anderson-Glass and Barnes, both juniors, joined seniors Melissa Barry, Chase Shortly, Dana Connelly and Jenna Bromen on the 39-player All-MIAC first team.

Barry and Connelly are among just 23 softball players in conference history to get All-MIAC honors four consecutive seasons. Barnes and Shortly are three-time honorees.

No. 3-ranked St. Thomas won the MIAC title at 19-3 by three games, and went 3-0 to claim the conference playoff title. Tschida's team (41-5) is home May 17-18 in the Super Regional round of the NCAA playoffs.

 

Elise Barnes

In 22 game MIAC stats, she led conference in batting (.459), home runs (7), slug% (.865); RBI (24), runs (31), and extra-base hits (14), and was second in hits (34) and on-base% (.506)... hit safely in 19 of 22 games, and team was 16-1 in MIAC when she scored a run... on career has 162 hits and 144 runs in 140 games.

 

Kierstin Anderson-Glass

Missed 2017 and 2018 seasons for medical reasons... 10-to-1 K-to-walk ratio in 13 MIAC appearances this season (64 IP, 52 Ks, 5 BB)... 11-1, 109 ERA... 3-0, 0.00 ERA in three MIAC playoff games over 25 innings.. Since April 6, she's 18-0 with an 0.32 ERA and 69 strikeouts and just eight walks, (two of those intentional)... no errors in conference play in 23 chances... on her two-year career has 54-8 record with 0.91 ERA, and a 10-to-1 K-to-walk ratio.

 

Chase Shortly

Just two errors in 144 defensive chances... Top seven in league in 22-game MIAC stats in hits (28), batting average (.418), RBI (21), slug % (.642)... In 183 career games has 202 hits, 147 RBI and 118 runs.

 

Melissa Barry

Just one error in 91 chances at second base... In 22-game MIAC stats ranked in top five of conference players in batting average (.423), SB (12), on-base % (.468), hits (30), runs 21 and fewest Ks (two)... On career in 177 games she has 225 hits, 153 runs, .405 BA

 

Dana Connelly

Had 22 RBI in 22 MIAC games, along with 20 hits, .517 slug%, six doubles, nine runs and batted .333... on career in 176 games has 175 hits, 111 RBI, and .354 BA

 

Jenna Bromen

Hit .342 in 19 MIAC games with eight RBI, a double and one HR... only two errors at catcher in 91 chances... only allowed four SBs in 19 games... on career in 166 games has 121 hits while batting .297 and just eight errors in 666 chances at catcher.
