Wachter sharp, Men's CC takes fourth

St. Thomas Men's Cross Country put seven runners in the top 40, led by sophomore Karl Wachter at 13th place (26:25), and took fourth place of 11 teams at Saturday's MIAC Championships in Northfield.

Carleton (26) outran St. Olaf (46) for the team crown. St. John's (109), St. Thomas (137) and Bethel (156) took the next three team places.

After Wachter, the Toms put six runners within 20 seconds of each other: junior Parker Rosenau (26th, 26:47), senior Adam Berkowitz (31st, 26:56), senior Andrew Fritz (33rd, 26:58), sophomore Scott Helstad (34th, 26:59), freshman Carl Kozlowski (37th, 27:04) and sophomore Collin Kiley (39th, 27:07).

Sophomore Spencer Urick (52nd, 27:18) and junior Seth Glidewell (59th, 27:22) also had top 60 places in a field of 203 finishers.

The Toms will run the NCAA regional race Nov. 11 at Carleton.
