Men's Soccer is bubble bound after road loss in MIAC playoffs

Tommie Men's Soccer was unable to move off the bubble for NCAA playoff consideration after Saturday's 3-1 loss at top-seed Gustavus in the MIAC Playoff championship clash in Mankato.

Gustavus snapped St. Thomas' win streak at 11 and takes the league's automatic berth into nationals.

Regular-season co-champ St. Thomas (12-4-3) awaits the announcement on Monday of the at-large entries into the national tournament field.

The Tommies had a fast start as Jake Makela scored in the 14th minute, assisted by George Marty.

GAC tied the score with a goal in the 41st minute; took the lead to stay on a goal in the 72nd minute; then added a clinching score in the 89th minute. The host team had a 12-7 advantage in corner kicks and a 9-4 edge in shots on goal.
