OUR STORY
Every day, our student-athletes pursue comprehensive excellence - in the classroom, in the community, in developing their individual and collective characters and on the field of competition. We are preparing our student-athletes to be future leaders who think critically, act wisely and work skillfully to advance the common good.
We’re making our presence known in new markets and attracting a more diverse cross section of student-athletes who are accomplished in and out of the classroom. We’re competing at a more dynamic level, building the pride, spirit and loyalty of our fans and creating a more engaged community of alumni, donors, students, faculty, staff and Minnesota residents. D-I athletics is helping tell our story of excellence on a bigger stage, broadening the impact that St. Thomas can have regionally, nationally and even globally.

1904 Club
The 1904 Club annual giving program supports the mission of the St. Thomas department of intercollegiate athletics, advancing both academic and athletic success for all of our student-athletes.
In 1904, intercollegiate varsity athletics were introduced at St. Thomas with football, baseball and basketball teams. Today, more than 500 student-athletes in 19 varsity sports proudly represent St. Thomas. Our long tradition has shaped lives, offered St. Thomas accolades, and fostered an enthusiastic fan base that returns to campus, again and again, to cheer on the Tommies.
Named to honor our storied past, the 1904 Club creates conditions to achieve comprehensive excellence for the University of St. Thomas athletics department and our student-athletes. Your contributions directly support student-athlete needs in areas such as student-athlete welfare, athletic medical support, life skills and scholarships. Membership in the 1904 Club is set at a minimum contribution of $100 per year to the Athletics Annual Fund and is a critical component of our philanthropic plan and athletic activities.
Supporters of the 1904 Club have the unique opportunity to be on the ground level of this historic transition.

Endowed Scholarship Program
Student Need
One of our largest areas of needed investment is scholarship support. Directly aligning with an overall University priority to close financial gaps for students, our goal is to create a sustainable framework where your investment in scholarships can provide an outstanding collegiate experience for generations of Tommie student-athletes.
Scholarship Support
While all gifts are welcome and appreciated, the Endowed Athletics Scholarship Program allows donors to have a lasting impact on St. Thomas Athletics. These gifts directly benefit Tommie student-athletes and create a legacy that will support St. Thomas Athletics now and in perpetuity.
Endowed funds are philanthropic investments with a minimum balance requirement intended to provide scholarship funds forever in accordance with the guidelines set by the donor. The University of St. Thomas endowment portfolio is invested in such a way that a stream of income can be distributed each year in student-athlete scholarships, cover expenses charged to the endowment, and still grow the remaining principal enough to keep up with inflation.
How you can help
The Endowed Athletics Scholarship Program allows donors to create a named scholarship that annually supports a specific student-athlete and sport. Whether making a one-time gift or leaving an endowed fund through estate planning, both types of invested funds that annually support student-athlete scholarships are great ways to leave a lasting legacy through an endowed fund.
The Endowed Athletics Scholarship Program is focused on finding families, individuals, and organizations who want to philanthropically support the mission of St. Thomas through academic support for Tommie student-athletes.
Athletic Scholarship Gift Benchmarks
Endowed named scholarships may be established with a minimum gift or pledge of at least $500,000 through a single gift or through installments pledged over a period of time mutually agreed upon by the donor and St. Thomas representative (usually up to five years). Gifts below $500,000 will be added to the Athletic Scholarship General Endowment to support all Tommie student-athletes.

The University of St. Thomas was founded in 1885, our athletic program 1904. Now, with more than 100 years of varsity intercollegiate athletic history, St. Thomas is facing its next chapter with the opportunity to showcase our student-athletes and university community across the country.
