Senior Hannah Spaulding recorded 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 3-ranked St. Thomas to Saturday's 76-55 victory over St. Mary's in MIAC women's basketball in Winona.

Senior guard Lucia Renikoff added 19 points for the Tommies (24-1 overall, 18-0 MIAC). They became the ninth Tommie women's hoops team to go unbeaten over a conference regular season -- and fifth this decade. St. Benedict has had one team achieve the rare feat.

This is the fifth consecutive MIAC title for Coach Ruth Sinn's teams. St. Thomas has won 72 games in a row over league opponents.

The Cardinals pulled within 11 late in the third quarter, but the Tommies countered with a 16-5 run and led by 23 points with under 6:00 to play.

The Tommies shot 59 percent from the floor and helped limit SMU to 36-percent shooting.

St. Thomas will play a home semifinal playoff game Thursday at 5 p.m. in Schoenecker Arena.
