St. Thomas women's track and field coach Joe Sweeney won his 60th Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team championship in May. He joins an elite group of Division III coaches to win 60 championships and is believed to be the only coach to win 60 with women's teams. Three other D-III coaches have 60 or more titles with men's sports.
Sweeney's UST cross country, indoor track and outdoor track teams have won 60 of a possible 78 championships.
