Good start for Women's Track & Field

The Tommie women’s indoor track and field team opened its season Friday in the non-team scored Opener meet at Anderson Fieldhouse.

UST won both the 4x200 (1:46.78) and 4x400 relays ( 4:09.19) plus four other events in a field that also included Concordia-St. Paul, St. Olaf and unattached women’s athletes.

Larissa Peyton (5:30.88) and Kayla Goeman (5:30.90) finished 1-2 in the mile. Mallory Burnham won the 55 hurdles (8.89); Amy Maas won the shot put (38-10 1-2); Haley Zajac won the weight throw (48-3 1-2).

Seconds were scored by Erika Tipp in the 55 dash (7.41); Katie Ryan in the 55 hurdles (8.99); Emily Van Heel in the triple jump (35-3 1-4); and Chelle Wanta in the high jump (4-7 3-4).

The Toms compete next Friday at home in the UST Invite.
