Senior All-American Katie Theisen hit NCAA provisional qualifying times in the 800 and 1,500 meters this weekend to lead the St. Thomas women's track and field team at the UC-Irvine Spring Break Invite.
Theisen ran 2:13.77 in the 800 and 4:33.59 in the 1,500. The latter time was just off the NCAA automatic qualifying time of 4:32.50.
Kelly Russ also had an NCAA provisional time in the 1,500 as she clocked 4:38.84. The Toms' 4x100 relay also had a provisional time of 48.57 with Shionna Evans, Ellie Jensen, Jenna Ewing and Nikki Arola. UST also ran 3:58.16 in the 4x400.
Erin Sprangers just missed an NCAA provisional time in the 800 as she was timed in 2:14.56 (provo 2:14.40). Nikki Arola ran 57.74 in the 400 meters, just off the provo time of 57.50, and ran 25.43 in the 200 meters, just off the provo time of 25.25.
Raynee DeGrio ran 11:39.81 in the steeplechase. In the 3,000, Allie Metzler ran 10:17.91 and Alyssa Rasset-Mehl ran 10:30.19.
In the 100 hurdles, Laura Janas clocked 16.04, Melissa Kuebler clocked 16.43 and Angela McGehee ran 16.64. In the 400 hurdles, Kuebler ran 69.78.
Ewing ran 12.84 in the 100 and 26.98 in the 200. Jensen ran 13.17 in the 100 and 27.16 in the 200. Emma Spoon ran 4:54.69 in the 1,500 and 10:42.63 in the 3,000.
Alyssa Salomone jumped 17-0 in the long jump and cleared 4-11 in the high jump. McGehee cleared 10-8 in the pole vault.
Megan Honan threw 139-2 in the hammer. Jenna Lewis threw 132-8 in the hammer, 39-0 1-4 in the shot put and 120-7 in the discus.
