The St. Thomas women swept the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, two of 10 top-three finishes for UST at Wednesday's Tommie Twilight track and field meet at O'Shaughnessy Stadium.

The 4x100 was run in 47.32 -- just .07 off the 1997 school-record time that won an NCAA crown.

The Toms took second in the 4x400 relay in a season-best 3:49.87, UST's fastest time in several seasons and the third-best D-III time in the nation this season. Freshmen Erika and Angela Tipp, sophomore Emily Van Heel and senior Larissa Peyton comprised the relay.

Peyton took second in the 800 meters in a career-best 2:11.66 -- which is believed to be to rank in the top five in school history. Freshman Kayla Goeman took sixth in a fast 2:14.86. In the 1,500, Taylor Berg clocked a career-best 4:34.32 to take fifth in a swift field.

Mallory Burnham won the 100 hurdles (15.35). Traci Pastoors won the javelin in a season-best mark (117-10).

In the 200, Van Heel (25.18) and Christina Rozeske (25.75) placed 2-3. In the 100, Erika Tipp (12.44) and Rozeske (12.54) placed 3-4.

Van Heel placed third in the triple jump in a season-best 36-7. Amy Maas placed third in the discus (133-8).
