Women's Track cruises to team title at Carleton

The St. Thomas women's track and field team won 13 of 21 events and outscored three other MIAC squads to take first at Thursday's Carleton College Quadrangular. UST scored 234 points followed by St. Olaf (132), Carleton (122) and St. Catherine (108).

Felisha Willaert won the discus in an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 140-0. She also won the shot put in 36-8 1-4.

Nikki Arola swept the 100 meters (12.48) and 200 meters (25.48). Alyssa Salomone swept the high jump (5-3 1-4) and long jump (15-11). Erin Sprangers won the 800 (2:15.19); Kelly Russ won the 1500 (4:49.95); Melissa Kuebler won the 110 hurdles (15.81); Katie Theisen won the 400 hurdles (65.95); Megan Honan won the hammer (146-7); Britney Daniel took second in the pole vault (10-6 3-4); and the Toms took first place in the 4x100 relay (49.85) and the 4x400 relay (4:04.49).

Seconds were scored by Jenna Ewing in the 100 (12.65); Shionna Evans in the 200 (26.26); Molly Demmer in the 400 (6.51); Raynee DeGrio in the steeplechase (11:47.24); Traci Pastoors in the triple jump (34-1 1-2) and javelin (95-0); Britney Daniel in the pole vault (10-6 3-4); and Jenna Lewis in the hammer (141-10).

Thirds were scored by Evans in the 100 (12.77); Ewing in the 200 (27.12); Larissa Peyton in the 800 (2:23.24); Nikki Schminski in the 3000 (11:05.67); Laura Janas in the 100 hurdles (16.23); Kuebler in the 400 hurdles (67.99); Sarah Lemke in the shot put (35-8 1-2); Jenna Lewis in the discus (119-2); and Jill Merkle in the javelin (93-4).

UST competes April 18 at the St. Olaf Invite.
