Guidry sets school record to lead Women's Track

Another school record fell and more provisional qualifying marks were recorded by the St. Thomas women's track and field team at Friday's meet at St. Olaf.

Senior Shara Guidry broke the school record in the shot put with a toss of 44-2 3/4, beating the record of teammate Carol Comp.

In the weight throw, Guidry (52-11) improved her NCAA provisional mark and took second to Comp (53-3 3/4).

Sophomore Nikki Arola took second in the 400 meters in an NCAA provisional 58.53. Shje also joined UST's winnign 4x400 relay that hit a provisional time of 3:58.96. Erin Sprangers, Katie Theisen and Raynee DeGrio joined Arola on the relay.

UST also had firsts with Theisen in the 600 (1:36.38); Kelly Russ in the 1000 (2:59.94); and the 4x200 relay (1:48.68) with Kate Staat, Melissa Kuebler, Shionna Evans and Jenna Ewing.

UST competes next weekend in the MIAC Championships in Collegeville.
