Selina Dehn won three events and hit an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the triple jump to lead the St. Thomas women's indoor track and field team to a team victory in Friday night's four-team Carleton Invite in Northfield.
St. Thomas won 10 of 19 events and scored 196 points to top St. Ben's (148.5), Winona State (141.5) and Carleton (89).
Dehn's 38-2 3-4 best in the triple jump set a Carleton fieldhouse record and is the best Division III leap thus far in 2008. it's just six inches off the NCAA automatic mark. Dehn also won the long jump (17-2) and high jump (5-2 1-2).
Katie Theisen won the mile (5:09.95) and took second in the triple jump (34-2).
Other firsts were scored by the 4x200 (1:50.45) and 4x400 (4:13.44) relays; freshman Raynee DeGrio in the 600 (1:37.92); Erin Sprangers in the 1000 (3:04.65); Nikki Arola in the 400 (59.99); and freshman Angela McGehee in the pole vault (10-6).
Other seconds were recorded by Kelly Russ in the mile (5:13.23); Cariol Comp in the weight throw (50-9 1-2); Shara Guidry in the shot put (40-4 1-2); Arola in the 200 (36.49); and Betsy Hupp in the 800 (2:27.79). Thirds were scored by Kate Staat in the 55 dash (7.66); Julie Anderson in the mile (5:16.79); Laura Janas in the 55 hurdles (9.09); Guidry in the weight throw (49-9 1-4); Alyssa Salomone in the high jump (5-1 1-4).
