St. Thomas field-event ace Selina Dehn (JR-St. Louis Park) was selected MIAC Women's Outstanding Field Athlete and received the honor of MIAC Outstanding Performance at the May 11-12 championship meet.
Dehn broke the meet record in the triple jump with a mark of 39-3 3/4 -- the third best mark in Division III this season. It was just one inch off an NCAA automatic qualifying mark but will put her next weekend's national meet in Oshkosh, Wis.
Dehn also took second in the long jump (17-4 3-4), and was sixth in the high jump (5-2 1-2) in helping St. Thomas score 200.5 team points and claim the team championship for the seventh time in eight seasons.
At the March MIAC indoor meet, Dehn scored 23 points with a first in the triple jump (37-2 1-2), second in the long jump, and fourth in the high jump (5-1 1-4).
Dehn qualified for outdoor nationals in 2006 in the triple jump with a careeer-best of 38-7 1-4 at a May Last Chance meet. She leaped 37-3 3-4 in the prelims at nationals and missed the nine-person finals.
