Women Swimming gets nine wins in Blazers dual

The St. Thomas women's swimming and diving team won nine of 16 events but took a close second in Saturday's dual meet with St. Ben's held in Collegeville.

The Blazers won 160-138, powered by 1-2-3-4 sweeps in both diving events.

The Tommies won the 200 medley relay in 1:56.30 with Jena Root, Karly Harrod, Ali Krieger and Alexis Rodarmel.           

Root also won the 100 back in 1:01.34 and the 200 back in 2:14.94.

Becca Ney swept the 200 free in 1:59.35, the 100 free in 54.06 and the 50 free in 25.21.

Katie Bromback was first in both the 200 fly in 2:18.79 and the 100 fly in 1:02.24 and second in the 200 Im in 2:18.93.

Harrod won the 200 breaststroke in 2:36.62.

Other individual seconds were scored by Layla Clauss in the 1000 free in 11:17.99 and the 500 free in 5:28.82; Jenny Bruno in the 100 back (1:02.30); and Krieger in the 200 back in 2:18.54.

After final exams, the Tommies will take a Dec. 26 training trip to Florida.
