
Jessica Ptachick stopped all 27 shots and Lauren Tomford's second-period goal stood up as the visiting Oles (11-7 overall, 7-4 MIAC) edged the first-place Tommies (9-6-2, 8-2-1) 1-0 in Friday night's MIAC women's hockey play in Mendota Heights.
UST had a five-game conference winning streak halted. The Toms had a 27-22 edge in shots on goal but were denied on several tries by Ptachick.
Lauren Bradel stopped 21 shots for UST including one breakaway.
The Oles, who lost two one-goal decisions to St. Thomas last season, beat the Tommies for just the secomd time in the programs' history. They came in 1-18-1 all time against UST with a home overtime win in 2006-2007.
St. Thomas has a one-point lead on St. Catherine and a two-point lead on Gustavus with five games left in the MIAC regular season.
