Lindsey Wilson stopped 25 shots and Taylor Schluter scored a third-period power-play goal to lift host St. Thomas to a 2-1 win over St. Mary's in Friday night's MIAC women's hockey game in Mendota Heights.
Rachel Zilles scored six minutes into the second period to stake the host Tommies (8-5-2 overall, 7-1-1 MIAC) to a 1-0 lead. SMU's Erin Stenseth tied the game with a goal six minutes later.
UST got its first and only power-play try six minutes into the third period and Schluter scored for a 2-1 lead.
The Toms outshot SMU 33-26. Kaye Collier had 33 saves for the Cardinals (8-7-1, 5-3-1). SMU was 0-for-3 on the power play, including a chance in the last 1:18 in which it was unable to get a shot on goal.
UST picked up two points on defending champion Gustavus (5-3-1 MIAC), which lost 2-1 at home Friday night to second-place St. Catherine.
Six different players scored a point for UST. Marie Omann and Amy Zimniewicz assisted on the first goal, and Kaylee Keys and Jenny Schnaible assisted on the second goal.

In the men's hockey game in Winona, St. Thomas rallied to post a 4-3 win over host St. Mary's in Winona. The Cards scored twice, UST answered with two, and SMU had the game's fifth goal to regain the lead. UST scored twice in the third, the latter on a 5:00 power play with 10:00 to go.
