Women's Hockey falls to Falcons in overtime

Jamie Briski scored her ninth goal of the season 18 seconds into sudden-death overtime to lift host UW-River Falls to a 2-1 win over St. Thomas in Tuesday night's non-conference women's hockey game in River Falls.

UST (5-5-1), playing its first game since Dec. 13, had a 28-27 edge in shots in regulation.

But the Falcons (8-3-3), playing their fifth game of January, won the faceoff to start OT and got one pass and converted a goal on their first shot.

River Falls scored a power-play goal 1:38 into the game but managed just 1-for-7 on the pqwer play overall.

UST sophomore transfer Kaylee Keys -- in her Tommie debut -- tied the score with a second-period goal, assisted by Taylor Schluter.

Lauren Bradel had 26 saves for UST, which lost its second one-goal game of the season to the Falcons.

The Tommies play Friday night at Hamline and are home Saturday night to face the Pipers.
