St. Thomas All-American Laura Heck (JR-Chisholm/Hibbing) Tuesday was named MIAC Player of the Week in women's golf for the second consecutive week. It was her fifth such honor in the last 13 months.
Heck won medalist honors for
her fourth consecutive competition -- and seventh time in her last 14 matches -- to help No. 7-ranked St. Thomas take second of 10 teams at the MIAC tournament.
Heck repeated as medalist as she shot 77-81-80/238 to win by five strokes and beat the other 49 players in the field. She becomes the fourth two-time MIAC meet medalist in women's golf. UST has had the meet medalist six of the last seven seasons.
Last week at the UW-Stevens Point, Heck topped a field of 69 players as she shot 73-80/153 and beat Point's Jessica Urban by one shot. Heck has a 78.5 stroke average in 11 fall rounds.
Three weeks ago, Heck won the honor after she was medalist at the Midwest Championships.
