WG's Anderson gets second MIAC weekly honor

St. Thomas golfer Amy Anderson (SR-Detroit Lakes, Minn.) today was named MIAC co-Player of the Week -- Player picthe second such honor this fall season.

Anderson shot 79-80/159 and won medalist honors in a field of 36 players to lead the Tommies to second place in the six-team St. Ben's Fall Classic. The two-day, 36-hole event concluded Sunday in Sartell.

St. Cloud State won at 675, 16 better than the Tommies. UST topped third-place St. Ben's by 10 strokes and Carleton by 21 strokes.

Anderson has been a top-five finisher at three of the four fall tournaments and has an 80.1 stroke average for eight rounds. She tied for fifth in the 2007 MIAC meet and was 13th last season. At the May 2009 NCAA meet, Anderson (80-78-84-84/326) tied for 24th overall in a field of 111 players.

In 20 rounds in 2008-09, Anderson had an 83.9 average.
