Former Tommie women's basketball star center Laurie Trow Kelly has been hired as the head women's basketball coach at Gustavus.
Kelly, who led the Tommie women to the 1991 NCAA championship as a sophomore, was a three-time All-America and still holds several Tommie and MIAC career scoring and rebounding records.
Kelly comes to Gustavus from Division I Northern Arizona, where she has been head coach the last nine seasons. She also coached five seasons at Binghampton (N.Y.)., and started her career as a graduate assistant at MSU Mankato.
She replaced 12-year GAC head coach Mickey Haller, who resigned after last season.
Kelly is the second Tommie graduate to take a Gustavus head coaching position in recent seasons. Rachelle Dosch was hired in 2011 as the Gustie volleyball head coach.
