Tommie freshman middle blocker Kelly Foley on Monday was named MIAC volleyball Hitter of the Week for
matches from Sept. 2-4.
The St. Paul native and Cretin-Derham Hall graduate led the No. 7-ranked Tommies to a 4-0 start in last weekend's Sugar Loaf Invite in Winona.
In her college debut, Foley hit a remarkable .519 with 77 kills and just seven hitting errors with seven total blocks in 14 games.
She hit .719 with 24 kills in a four-game win over No 25-ranked and previously-unbeaten St. Scholastica.
The Tommies also scored 3-0 wins over Loras and UW-LaCrosse and a 3-1 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan.
St. Thomas plays next Friday and Saturday in the Augsburg tournament, then opens its home and conference season Sept. 14 against Gustavus.
