Volleyball falls in five games in playoff finals

The No. 12-ranked St. Thomas volleyball team built a 2-1 lead but lost a five-game decision at No. 9-ranked Concordia-Moorhead in Saturday night's championship match of the conference playoffs.
The Cobbers (25-3) won 24-26, 25-18, 22-25, 25-22, 15-8, and claimed the MIAC's automatic berth into the NCAA playoffs. The Tommies (29-4) had a 16-match win streak snapped.
Both teams are expected to compete in the Nov. 11-13 NCAA regional, with the site and pairings to be announced Monday morning.
Ashley Maher and Kaitlain Wachter made the All-Tournament Team. Maher had 55 assists and 13 digs on Saturday. Jill Greenfield had 18 kills and 15 digs for the Tommies.
