Senior hitter Taylor Lewis contributed 16 kills and 21 digs to lead St. Thomas Volleyball to a 3-1 comeback win at St. Ben's in Wednesday night play in St. Joseph.
It was the first conference match of the season for both teams.
The Tommies (5-4 overall, 1-0 MIAC) lost set one 25-23 but rallied to win 25-17, 25-18, 25-19.
In the pivotal third set, the score was just 17-15 before the Tommies reeled off six consecutive points for a 23-15 cushion. UST never trailed in the final set, using a 6-1 run to build a 12-6 lead.
St. Thomas avenged a 2015 loss to the Blazers and ended a streak of six consecutive road losses dating back to October 2015.
Meyer recorded 32 digs and two aces. Sophomore Katharine Mallak added 32 assists and 10 digs. Brooke Reichart had 15 kills and five block assists. Whitney Lloyd chipped in 12 kills and four block assists. Grace Duffy recorded seven kills and six block assists.
St. Thomas plays four matches next weekend at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational, all against Wisconsin foes -- No. 10-ranked UW-Stevens Point, St. Norbert, Lakeland and UW-Stout.
