Women's hockey falls to Hamline 3-2

Tommie Women's Hockey broke to a 2-0 lead but couldn't sustain the pace and fell 3-2 at home Friday night to MIAC leader Hamline.

UST (1-5-2 overall, 1-2-2 MIAC) got an early power-play goal from Leah Schwartzman and a goal from Kaylee Druk to go ahead 2-0 in the game's first 23:00.

But the Pipers used a short-handed breakaway goal and an even-strength attack to tie the game at 2-2.

Late in regulation UST was trying to kill off 3:33 in back-to-back power plays and almost did it, but Hamline scored with 15 seconds left on the second power play and just under 90 seconds to go for the 3-2 lead.

Hamline (6-2, 4-0) was outshot 40-20. Darby Dodds scored the last two for Hamline.

The teams play again Saturday at St. Paul's Oscar Johnson Arena (2 p.m.).
