Women's Golf close third in Hastings

 Rachel Morris tied for medalist honors but St. Thomas slipped to a third-place team finish on a windy Sunday at the final day of the 36-hole College City Classic in Hastings.

St. Catherine (641), Carleton (642), UST (644) and Bethel (651) took the first four team places in the 12-team event.

Morris shot 75-79/154 for a three-way tie for first among 75 players. Emily Thul (80-84), Kate Drimel (81-83) and Morgan McCorkle (83-81) tied for 17th at 164. Marja Sorensen (85-82/167) rounded out the St. Thomas lineup.

UST is off next weekend and plays the MIAC Championships Oct. 8-10 in Coon Rapids.

St. Thomas (319) has a one-shot lead on Carleton (320) at the halfway point of the 36-hole College City Classic in Hastings. The final round is set for Sunday, and six teams start the final day within eight shots of the lead.
