Five Tommies had muti-hit games and six Toms scored runs in St. Thomas' 7-3 comeback win over UW-Oshkosh in NCAA regional softball tourney winners'-bracket contest Friday at UST's South Field.
No. 7-ranked St. Thomas (37-6) improved to 13-0 at home this spring and has won 33 of its last 35 games overall. The Tommies advance to Saturday's championship game at noon and will face either Oshkosh or Central. If they lose that game, they will play a 2:30 p.m. rematch for the region title of the double-elimination event.
UW-Oshkosh (26-13) plays a 4 p.m. elimination game Friday against Central, a 2-1 winner over Northwestern in the day's first elimination game.
St. Thomas has collected 31 runs and 41 hits in three postseason victories over the last six days. On Friday, UST slapped 13 hits led by Melissa Barry (3-for-3, HBP), and Elise Barnes and Chase Shortly with two hits and two RBI apiece. Rachel Suter and Jenna Bromen each added two hits.
Sammy Hogan allowed one run over 4 2-3 innings of relief to get the pitching victory. She also had a sacrifice fly to score the go-ahead run for a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning.
The Toms trailed 3-1 after four innings before using a pair of three-run innings to take control.
