Softball starts MIAC playoffs Fri. afternoon

No. 16-ranked St. Thomas opens play Friday at 3 p.m. in Shoreview's Rice Creek Park in the MIAC playoffs. The top-seed Tommies (34-6) face No. 4-seed St. Mary's in the first-round. Gustavus and Augsburg play the other 3 p.m. game on an adjacent diamond.

The losers play a 5 p.m. elimination game, while the winners play a 5 p.m. game. The tourney contimues Saturday with two or three games to determine the champion and NCAA playoff automatic qualifier.

All games will have live stats.
