St. Thomas RHP Kendra Bowe was named MVP of the 2012 MIAC Softball Playoffs after leading the Tommies to the championship.
Bowe (22-1) threw a one-hit shutout in UST's 8-0, five-inning win over Gustavus to give UST its ninth consecutive playoff crown. On the weekend, the freshman from Chippewa Falls, Wis., worked 22 innings and allowed four earned runs with 14 strikeouts and went 3-1 for the Tommies (37-7).
Five teammates joined her on the all-tournament team -- junior Kimmy Hassel; and sophomores Jenna Hoffman, Emily Gregory, Erin Mussett, and Mary Rentz.
Hoffman went 7-for-11 with three walks and scored six runs on the tournament.
Hassel had no errors in 15 chances at second base, and added six hits, two walks and four RBI on the weekend. She now has 74 hits in 44 games.
Gregory had three hits and five RBI in Friday's two wins. Mussett had five hits and five RBI. Rentz went 5-for-11 for four runs scored.
