Freshman Eyo Ekpo took second in the high jump in an NCAA provosional mark of 6-7 1-2 to lead the Tommie men's track and field team at Saturday's Wartburg Select Invitational in Waverly, Iowa.
Ekpo also placed second in the triple jump in a season best 45-0 1-2. Both jumps rank second best thus far in the MIAC, and the high jump ranks eighth best in Tommie indoor history.
Sophomore Mike Hutton won the 800 in 1:55.47 -- .10 of a second ahead of runner-up Patrick Klein of UW-Platteville.
UST also won the 4x400 relay in a season-best 3:22.78.
In the open 400, Pat Jager (50.28) and Eric Lois (50.30) took 2-3 and clocked the best two times thus far in the conference.
In the mile, Ben Sathre (4:20.12), George Williams (4:23.66), Tyler Iverson (4:25.94) and Mike Connelll (4:26.49) had season bests and placed 2-3-6-7.
Matt Griswold took second in the 55 hurdles (7.83).
Cameron Roemhildt was third in the high jump (6-1 1-2) and fifth in the triple jump (44-0).
Sam Moen placed fourth in the long jump (21-0).
In the pole vault, Anthony Kelly (13-9 1-4), Andy Edmunds (13-3 1-2) and Thomas Hildebrand (13-3 1-2) placed 5-6-9.
Greg Dowe took fifth in the 800 (1:59.14).
Sevenths were scored by Jim Leschke in the 3,000 (9:26.65) and Devin Dirth in the shot put (44-7 1-2).
