Tommie senior track and field standout Mike Hutton was the subject of a story by Rich Mies in his "Profiles of Excellence" series on outstanding MIAC senior student-athletes.

The story was written last week before Hutton added an NCAA runner-up finish in the 800 meters to his resume. Hutton holds four school records in track and field including the indoor and outdoor 800 and was the indoor national champion at 800 meters last March.

He also was a rare four-time All-MIAC honoree in men's soccer and finished with 35 goals and 86 points in his four-year career. Hutton was a six-time MIAC Athlete of the Week in soccer, indoor and outdoor track, and he helped UST win seven conference team titles indoors and outdoors in his career.

Hutton also was named Outstanding Men's Track Athlete of two MIAC indoor championship meets and one MIAC outdoor championships. In 2012, he also swept the Central Region Track Athlete of the Year for the outdoor season.
