Jerabek, Wendroth gets firsts on track at Mac

Cody Jerabek topped a field of 34 entrants to win the 100 meters in (11.04) to lead St. Thomas in Thursday night’s Macalester Twilight men’s track and field meet at the Scots’ stadium. A partial squad entered for the Tommies, who have some athletes competing at the Drake Relays.

Jerabek also took second in the 200 meters (22.29).

UST runners took six of the top nine spots in the 5,000. Keaton Wendroth (15:08.23), Nick Michalak (15:13.59), Tyler Iverson (15:20.54) and Ben Rascher (15:33.94) placed 1-2-4-5.

In the 400 meters, Ben Yorkovich (50.67) and Andrew Leonard (51.14) had season-best times and placed fifth and seventh in a field of 28 runners.  In the 800, Alex Schroeder (1:57.13) and Fritz Alt (1:57.71) placed 5-6. In the 400 hurdles, Blake Bordson (56.79) and Gavin Yseth (57.18) placed 3-5. In the 3,000 steeplechase, Grant Timm (10:12.25), Dan Kremer (10:15.67) and Nick Johnson (10:23.95) placed 4-5-7.

In the pole vault, Thomas Foote (14-10), Andy Edmunds (14-6), Jay May (14-2) and Maxwell Dunne (13-8 1-4) placed 4-5-6-7. Dunne also placed fifth in the long jump (20-2 1-4). Derek Vanahme placed seventh in the shot put (42-11 1-2).
