Proshek, Kapraun get MIAC golf awards

St. Thomas garnered two of the three awards in MIAC men's golf for 2011-12. Scott Proshek was named Coach of the Year, while Alex Kapraun was named Rookie of the Year.

In just his second season as head coach, Proshek guided St. Thomas to the MIAC team championship -- the program's first in 31 seasons. UST is playing in this week's NCAA Championships in orlando -- the school's first-ever national tournament trip.

Kapraun of Rochester Lourdes has a fall-spring season average thus far of 74.9. He was co-medalist of the conference meet and has had four top-10 finishes.
