APPLETON, Wis. – Rain delayed most of the NCAA Division III World Series Saturday and pushed St. Thomas’ second-round game against Marietta to Sunday evening.
Only one elimination game was completed Saturday at Fox Rivers Stadium, with Webster defeating Kean 8-7. The second elimination game was halted by rain in the fifth inning with Whitworth leading Christopher Newport 4-2.
Here is the schedule for Sunday, with a forecast of sunny skies and a high near 90:
• Noon: Whitworth and Christopher Newport will complete their elimination game.
• 2:30 p.m. – Wheaton and SUNY-Cortland, which won opening round games on Friday, will play.
• 6 p.m. – St. Thomas and Marietta, also opening-round winners, will play.
The three games originally scheduled for Sunday are expected to be pushed into Monday, when rain also is in the forecast.
